  Another member of EQSC [scil. Frank Tysen] saw it as the Council’s job to pursue “environmental ethics,” to force the “ugly-makers” to clean up the environment, to “stir up lots of people to think actively about solving problems ....”. His techniques were those of the skillful advocate willing to resort to any honest device of persuasion to make a point; “it helps,” he said, “to dramatize the problem-perhaps even exaggerate it.” Thus he wished to hold hearings in the “worst possible” places‒for example, a hearing on noise in a schoolhouse abandoned because of constant interruptions from the roar of aircraft.”

  As citizens, all of us must fundamentally accept our obligation to the natural system. The tendency has been to blame everyone but ourselves. The real issue is that we are all guilty, and as such we cannot point an accusing finger at everyone else without being able to look at our own environmental ethic.
