    Die Biomasse steht mit der Produktion in keinem festen Verhältnis. Es darf nicht erwartet werden, daß Produktion/Biomasse konstant ist, auch optimale Besetzung in allen Fällen vorausgesetzt. Denn die Biomasse ist der Ausdruck der augenblicklichen Stickstoffbilanz, Produktion dagegen beruht wesentlich auf einem Ersatz des entnommenen Stickstoffs aus Reserven oder auf Ersatz durch Neugewinnung aus freiem Stickstoff und auf Heranziehen von Reserven, soweit es sich um manche andere Stoffe (Salze) handelt.
