  [Es gilt], dass dieser Wechsel der thierischeu Formen keineswegs an jene Eruptionen gebunden, sondern auch da streng erfolgt sei, wo von dergleichen Ergiessungen lebensfeindlicher Elemente keine Spur vorhanden war. Das Erscheinen dieser abnormen Gebilde zwischen dem Faunenwechsel ist sonach in den böhmischen Silurschichten ein zufälliges, und es muss für die stufenweise Veränderung und Entwickelung der organischen Formen ein eigenes, von dem Einflusse der gesteinsbildenden Kräfte unabhängiges Gesetz anerkannt werden.
